ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of SFC Gianni S. LaBarbera have requested the Far West Texas Patriot Guard Riders to render honors for his interment. Services for SFC Gianni S. LaBarbera are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home – NE 4631 Hondo Pass El Paso, TX 79904 SFC LaBarbera first served our nation in the USMC during the Korean war earning him the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal. He later joined the US Army where he served in Vietnam as a 71L40 Admin Specialist. During his Army service he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, the Purple Heart and numerous other commendations. After his retirement he spent 25 years working in the Finance Office and mail room at the Sergeant Major Academy on Biggs Army Air Field.

Upon arrival at Fort Bliss National Cemetery the FWTPGR will establish a flag line for the family and friends attending the committal service.

  1. Father, in PSALMS 91 we are told, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart”. In John 11:25 Jesus said: “Whoever lives and believes in me shall never die”. I also pray you will comfort the family of this warrior as they mourn.
