George McClure “Alaskan”, Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:
George McClure ,known to everyone as “Alaskan”, was in the US Naval Reserves from 1962 to 1964, and then in the US Navy from 1964 to 1970, when he was discharged as an E-5. Alaskan was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk, and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. During his service, Alaskan was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal (2nd award), Presidential Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his service, Alaskan moved to Alaska where he continued to serve his community as an EMT and firefighter. After moving to Arizona, Alaskan became active in the VFW, American Legion and Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club. Alaskan recently passed at the age of 75.
