ABOUT THE MISSION:
SFC George M. Makowiec, 68, US Army Retired, from Gloucester, VA, died 19 April 2019 at his home. Born in Swidnica, Poland to refugee parents who fled the Ukraine after WWII, the family moved to America and made their home in Ohio. George joined the US Army and served for twenty years. He spoke Russian fluently and because of that he served in Intelligence. A true Cold War Warrior, he took his family on assignment to Alaska to monitor Russian activity. Even after retirement, he continued to work with intelligence gathering agencies to make our Nation safe. He is survived by his wife Oksana, and a large and loving family. SFC George M. Makowiec, is to be interred on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery on 10 July 2019 at approximately 11:00 AM from the Administration Building. PGR has been invited to attend the services by his family, and we will be there to stand tall, silent and proud in honor of this US Army Soldier, his family, friends and comrades at arms.
