TSgt George James McSweeney, Retired
Sherwood, Arkansas – 05-15-20


George James McSweeney, 88, of Sherwood, Arkansas, born May 20, 1931, passed on May 6, 2020. Mr. McSweeney initially joined the US Navy and after a tour to Japan decided he was better suited for the US Air Force. He became a missile mechanic, and retired at the rank of Tech Sergeant after 23 years total active duty service time. He received AF Longevity Service Award x4, AF Good Conduct Medal x2, AF Outstanding Unit Award x1, and Master Missileman Badge. After service he worked in Mechanical and Building Maintenance Engineering for decades until retiring. He enjoyed traveling the US and other countries, antique car rebuilding and shows, model aircraft building, gardening, learning about world history, culture, music and dancing. He was a Mason, and with his wife, a member of the Good Sam’s Travel Club, Gold Wing Motorcycle Club, the local antique car club, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. McSweeney is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years. He is survived by 2 sons, 2 daughters, 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; 1 brother and sister-in-law.
