ABOUT THE MISSION:

George Cross is a United States Army veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Army from June 1942 to July 1946 during WWII.The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a flag line to celebrate his departure to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. We gratefully, respectfully, and with much honor accept this mission. George Cross served in WWII as an Army Paratrooper. He jumped behind enemy lines on June 6, 1944, D-Day. Fortunately, he survived the war without serious injury. George was released from active duty and honorably discharged in July 1946.While in the service of his country George Cross earned the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign WWII, European Theatre WWII, Victory Medal WWII, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge.After his Army discharge, he went to work in Montana as a Smoke Jumper. Continuing his service before self, he also later taught at the University of Montana for more than 20 years.

Special Instructions:

Briefing: 1:40 P.M. for a short mission update at the staging area. Following the briefing, we will all board the Sky Train together and proceed to the terminal.
Circle of Honor: 2:00 P.M. with all present upon arrival of our hero.
Parking is at your discretion. On and off property parking is available. Parking on the airport property cost for all motorcycles and cages. Veterans can have parking validated at the USO in the terminal.
Flags and water will be provided by our Flag Captain at the East Economy Parking and we will take them to the terminal on the Sky Train. Upon arrival at the staging location, we will assemble the poles, unfurl the flags, and place them against the wall until time to form the flag line. Prior to forming the flag line, please feel free to spend time with the departing hero, his hero’s family, and friends. This is a very special time of interaction which is greatly appreciated.

Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water will be provided.

I will be Proud to be attending the send off of George at Sky Harbor airport. I intend to render my best salute.
