Honor Mission
Gary Leon Williamson, Retired
USA – Vietnam
Glendale, Arizona – 05-06-21


Gary Leon Williamson was a United States Army veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1963 to 1985. His MOS was 96Z50 Intelligence Sergeant for nineteen years and ten months. He supervised intelligence surveillance, collection, and analysis. He coordinated training and processed the information they were able to collect. He was Command Sergeant Major for two years and nine months. This is the highest military enlisted rank as E9. He served two years and one month overseas in his career. This included two tours in Vietnam. This resulted in his exposure to Agent Orange and it did effect his health the rest of his life. Command Sergeant Major Williamson was released from active duty and honorably discharged in June 1985.  While in the service of his country earned the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal first oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Unit Citation first oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Service Medal first oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal fifth award, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Overseas Service Bars (5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5).   It is our honor to stand in silent reverence as we show respect and gratitude to this hero for his sacrifices made for this nation.

Although all prior statewide mandates have been lifted at staging locations, all members must still adhere to the following:*All members are required to carry a face mask/cloth covering at all times during the mission. There are still partners (funeral homes, cemeteries, churches) that may require masks to be worn as well as social distancing. Some families may also request masks/face coverings be worn.  We will always respect their wishes.*If you wish to wear a face mask at a mission, you are free to do so.*If you feel ill or have a temperature, please stay home until you improve. Flag support can begin with normal procedure of water and snacks for members.  While disinfecting the poles is always a good idea, it is no longer required.
