ABOUT THE MISSION:
Garland David Jackson enlisted in the U.S. Army in December of 1967. He was based at Fort Hood, Texas with the 142d Sig Bn 2nd Armed Div Fourth U.S. Army, during which time his MOS was in Communications where he served as a Radioman. Garland served an 11 month deployment overseas in Vietnam from May 1967 to April 1968. During his time in the Army he received The National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Sharp Shooter (Rifle). Garland was later transferred to USAR Control Group at USAAC St. Louis, MO to serve out the remainder of his service with his Reserve Unit. He was Honorably discharged in October 1973 from the U.S. Army. Garland is survived by his mother, 92 yrs old; 2 sisters; a son and his wife; 2 step-daughters; 2 granddaughters.
