Cpl. Francis J. Rochon, KIA
USA – Korea
Superior, Wisconsin – 07-22, 25-20


The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced on July 9, 2020 that Army Cpl. Francis J. Rochon, 21, of Superior, Wisconsin, reported missing in action during the Korean War, was accounted for June 18, 2020. In late 1950, Rochon was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Sept. 1, 1950, near Changnyeong, South Korea. The Army officially declared Rochon deceased on Dec. 31, 1953, and declared his remains non-recoverable Jan. 16, 1956. On Nov. 5, 2018, X-175 Tanggok was disinterred and sent to the DPAA Laboratory at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Rochon will be buried July 25, 2020 in Foxboro, Wisconsin. Rochon’s personnel profile can be viewed at Corporal Francis “Sonny” Rochon has three sisters who will be welcoming home their brother, gone too many years. Let us join them in this celebration as Sonny is finally laid to rest. This Mission will have 2 parts, the first including a Distinguished Transfer and escort by Minnesota Patriot Guard to Superior, WI and the second, a service and burial in Wisconsin.

Escort to burial at Summit Cemetery Foxboro WI. 18 mile escort – note last mile is loose gravel.
a. We will not be indoors in proximity to family or visitors.
b. The Ride Captain will present the plaque and dog tags to the family privately. No other members will assist or attend.
c. ALL members MUST wear a face mask over mouth and nose at all times from the time they dismount or leave their vehicle until they depart unless they are at least 8 feet from the nearest person. Failure to follow this will result in being asked to leave the mission.
d. We ask that the family and friends maintain a safe distance of 8 – 10 feet at all times (therefore we cannot line the immediate entry area or open doors).
e. We may participate in an escort maintaining a safe distance.
f. We may pre-establish a flag line at the burial / interment site not less than 20 feet away from the expected family and friends area and not closer than 10 feet from an adjacent flag. It is required that each member to make sure they have a mask with them at all times as well as hand sanitizer and possibly gloves (laundered between each mission).
Each member must consider the potential consequences without feeling any pressure to attend if you feel it unsafe for you or your family.
