END OF MISSION REPORT: PFC Forrest Swan, US Army WWII Veteran, Kellyville, OK
Friday, 09 August 2019 was a warm Oklahoma day with lots and lots of hard rain. The PGR staged and briefed at the Kellyville City Cemetery. Flags had been posted around the interment site prior to everyone’s arrival. The funeral coach arrived and the PGR assisted with moving PFC Swan from the coach to the interment site. Family and friends began to arrive during a driving rain storm. Many gathered under the tent but many others were standing outside with umbrellas. The rain continued to fall during the entire service. The pastor presented a service for family and friends and closed with a prayer. The PGR came forward, played Taps, folded and presented the flag to Mr. Swan’s daughter. The PGR plaque and Invocation Letter were read and presented to the daughter. A Final Salute was presented and participated by all in attendance. After a time for viewing the service was closed. The PGR took refuge in a shelter that was a short distance away and when the time was appropriate the flags were gathered.
Thank you to the Swan family for inviting the PGR to Honor this WWII Hero. Thank you to the PGR riders that came and “Stood to Honor” this Hero in a constant rain.
“Rest in Peace” PFC Forrest Swan, US Army WWII Veteran, your mission is complete, you are gone, but your service to this Great Nation will never be forgotten.
Respectfully submitted:
Mike “Penni” Pennington
