Patriot Guard Riders

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders,

We have been asked by the family of Finian O’Reilly to stand and honor their son, brother, friend during his committal services.

Finian joined the Navy in January of 2001 and was in Japan on 9/11; he served out his contract and rejoined the civilian world in 2005. He decided that the military life was for him and re-enlisted in the Washington National Guard. In December 2007 while in training, at the Yakima Military Reservation, Finian was in a Stryker accident. The vehicle came over a hill and landed hard enough to crush several vertebrae – he was immediately airlifted to hospital but the injuries were catastrophic and he was paralyzed from the waist down.

Finian was a very outdoorsy person, he loved hiking, rock climbing, cycling – if it was outdoors he was part of it. He was a very upbeat person that was loved by family and friends. Unfortunately, there were a lot of complications from his injuries and one of those caused his death. He is survived by his parents, his sister, and her children, his brother, as well as many dear friends.
