Eugene Noel Cate, Jr. , Retired

The family of Eugene Noel Cate Jr., 82, has requested the SC Patriot Guard Riders to assist with the memorial service as well as an escort. Eugene Noel Cate, Jr. entered US Navy in 1955 performed several duties as an officer. Eugene Noel Cate, Jr. was selected as being a candidate to be an officer while he was enlisted and was top 25% of his class while attending his officer training school. After serving for (20) years he decided to retire in the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). After his service career he went to work with an Advertising Firm. LCDR Cate got involved in advertising, writing, directing and later became an author of a book. LCMR Cate enjoyed being involved with the theater in the Charleston area. LCMR Cate enjoyed salt water fishing, cooking, listening to fine music and was very much respected and involved with his local community with being an outstanding leader. LCDR Cate was a member of Advertising Federation of Charleston, Charleston Yacht Club and pass officer of the South Carolina Saltwater Sport fishing Association. LMDR Cate was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather

Special Instructions:

Briefing will begin at 9:15 am, and following the briefing, a flag line will be established, for the memorial service at 10:00 am. The flag line will remain until the service is over. There will be military ceremony performed by the Naval Honor Guards and rendering honors will be done Once the service has been completed then the PGR will return their flags in to the flag wagon, then proceed to their bikes to get ready for the escort which will be next with LEO. Stage time is estimated based on service length and travel time. Upon the arrival of the escort we will form a flag line for graveside service.  Flag Wagon/Mentor: Dave Dence,  843-270-8485.
Due to COVID19, we will abide by all rules and regulations set by the CDC and the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs.  Each attendee is responsible to bring a personnel face-covering. It does not have to be an actual mask, any sort of covering will be sufficient. In keeping with the requirements of the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, PGR members will maintain at least a six-foot distance between each other during the briefing and flag line.
