The Family of Gene “GOBB” Mummert has honored the Patriot Guard Riders and many other groups by inviting us to be a part of a ceremony honoring his service and for Military Honors.
Gene served with the 199th Infantry Battalion, nicknamed the “Redcatchers”in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive and the 397th Military Police Battalion back in the States.He served 1967-1970 leaving as a Sergeant.
Gene was one of the original members of the AZ Patriot Guard and also one of the original Road Guards. He was active in the ALR Post 53 Buckeye, AZ, The Indian Riders Motorcycle Group, and was at every Charity ride or event held in the Greater Phoenix area for years. He was a friend and mentor to countless people for years. Gene was also a DOC Captain retired from the DOC Perryville and Lewis units. He was known by many names, Gene, GOBB, ADCOP, DADDY,CAPTAIN,BROTHER, to name a few. He was loved and admired and respected by all who met him. He is survived by his loving Daughter with countless “brothers and sisters”. We will honor him on July 1st, 2016 at 1030 hours at The Phoenix National Memorial Center, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd.Phoenix, AZ 85024 (entrance on Pinnacle Peak Rd. east of Cave Creek Rd.)
