ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Elmer Compton has requested the presence of the Arizona Patriot Guard Riders to stand a flag line for Military Honors. It will be our honor to participate.
Elmer Compton was a member of the greatest generation. The day after Pearl Harbor he tried to enlist in the service but was not old enough and could not get his parents to sign the paperwork. He had to wait until his next birthday to enlist. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on December 11, 1942 and served for 3 years during World War II. During his service he was an aviation sheet metal smith and he was a gunner for multiple anti sub patrol missions under the leadership of both Colonel Pappy Boyington and Major Dooley. Elmer earned the rank of Technical Sergeant.
