ABOUT THE MISSION:

Seventy-six year old Edward Richard Harig lost his life on 5 May 2021. He served his country honorably for 20+ years in the US Navy, retiring on 30 Sep 89 with the rate of Machinist’s Mate Chief Petty Officer (E7). He served several tours in Vietnam and earned the following awards/decorations: Good Conduct Medal (x2), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Navy Battle “E” Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal (x2), and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (x3).The PGR has been requested to stand a flag line, supplemented by Cloudcroft VFW Post 11999 members, at the church. Following the church service, the PGR has been requested to provide an escort to Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX.

Special Instructions:

Brief at 8:00am, and KSU for High Rolls-Mountain Park Methodist Church, 33 Haynes Canyon Road at 8:10am.
A flag line will be established at the church from 8:30 to 9:00 as family and friends are arriving. We will be augmented by members of Cloudcroft VFW Post 11999.
At approximately 11:30 we will provide an escort to Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions at the cemetery, the PGR will break formation and not enter the cemetery grounds in support of this mission.
Note: There will be a 2+ hour delay between standing down the flag line and beginning the escort. This will allow time for members to travel back to Alamogordo (10 miles, 15 minutes) or up to Cloudcroft (7 miles, 11 minutes) for refreshments.
If you choose to leave the church, please return no later than 11:15am hours to prepare for the escort.

Flags will be provided
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water will be provided.
