With great sadness, I report that America has lost another member of The Greatest Generation.
The family of Sgt. Edward Joseph Dougherty has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand and honor their Hero and it will be our honor to do so.
Sgt. Dougherty served as an aircraft instrument mechanic, mostly on B-17s, during his tour of duty in Alaska. He tried to enter pilot training but was turned down for being color blind.
After his tour of duty, he completed college and worked for IBM for 36 years, retiring in 1985.
He married his surviving wife of 63 years in 1953.
His son continued in his footsteps by becoming a USAF pilot, flying F-4’s and C-130’s.
We will stand a flag line at the church for the arrival of guests at the Memorial Service for one hour, and then escort after the approximately one hour service, with LEO, to stand for his cemetery service.
Staging: 2:30 PM for the flag line at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 535 Rucker Rd., Alpharetta, GA 30004, until the service begins at 4:00 PM
Escort: After the service, at approximately 5:00 PM, to Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076 for the service and Army Honors.
Weather forecast for Friday 03 June, is for high of 91 and 30% chance of storms.
Remember to hydrate in this heat!
