Edward Francis “Poppy” Napoli – USN, Vietnam Veteran – Jasper, GA 6 AUG 16
It is with heavy heart that I must announce we have lost a dear friend and brother of all patriots. Last night Ed “Poppy” Napoli passed peacefully in his sleep after losing a two year battle with cancer. We have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Poppy by his family and I have told his family it will be our honor to be present.
Like many of our Vietnam Veterans, Poppy didn’t share much about his service in the Navy or experiences during the Vietnam war but it was very clear to all of us that knew him that he was a dedicated patriot as well as a Team Mentor with the Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia. Prior to having poor health, no mission was too far or too hot or cold for Poppy not to be present to honor other veterans. Poppy had a big heart and showed true dedication to the mission of the Patriot Guard Riders that set an example to all of us. As Bees said, “He is old school PGR”.
