McKnight\, Veteran\nUSA  – WWII\nCastleton-on-Hudson\, New York – 02 Nov 2017\n\n\n[HR][/HR]\nABOUT THE MISSION: \n\nThe family of Ms. Ellen Elizabeth McKnight has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in her funeral services. \nMs. McKnight\, 98\, passed away on Friday\, October 27\, 2017. Born in  Castleton-on-Hudson\, she was a graduate of Castleton High School\, Class  of 1937 and St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City\,  graduating in 1940. \nMs. McKnight enlisted in the US Army Nurses Corps in 1943\, serving one  year and 6 months overseas. She was Honorable discharged in August of  1950\, at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. For her service\, she was awarded  the WWII Victory Medal\, American Defense Medal\, American Campaign Medal  and WWII Lapel Button. \nAfter her military service\, Ms. McKnight worked as a registered nurse  and retired as the school nurse at Maple Hill High School. She was a  communicant of Trinity Luthern Church\, and member of the Castleton VFW  Post 7337. \nThe Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for  and render dignity\, honor and respect for the life and service of Ms.  Ellen E.
