Douglas will be buried at sea at a later date. Douglas faithfully served his Country in the U.S. Navy/Reserves and the Air Force and performed duties as a Senior Chief Builder. Upon completion of his service\, Douglas received an Honorable Discharge and during his time in service\, awarded the National Defense Service Medal\, Good Conduct Medal (2)\, Naval Reserve Medal\, M-16 (Sharpshooter)\, Naval Commendation Medal (3)\, Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal\, Gold Wreath for Excellence in Recruiting (16)\, AF Good Conduct Medal\, and the AF Longevity Service Award.
