It is with a heavy heart that I must report America has lost another True American hero from the greatest generation
The family of Ms. Pollock has asked us to stand for their departed hero. It is our honor and privilege to do so. Dorothy Matilda Agnes Deeb Pollock, age 96, of Wider, Georgia, passed away on August 13, 2016. She was born on March 15, 1920, in Norwood MA .
Ms. Pollock was one of 23,000 women who joined the Marines during WWII. She served at the Charleston Naval Yard, as well as in Washington , DC. After WWII, Dorothy worked for the Department of the Navy and then the Department of the Army for a total of over 40 years. The highlight of her career was when she was working at the 12th Corps on Ponce de Leon; she was the clerk who processed Elvis Presley’s enlistment. Dorothy was very proud member of American Legion, Georgia Post 1, for over 50 years becoming the first woman Commander of Post 1. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a long-time volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta .
We will stand a Flag Line for Ms. Pollock Interment is at Georgia National Cemetery at 1430 (2:30 PM)
