AFTER ACTION REPORT: SGT Donald Vernon Scott, US Army Vietnam Veteran, Sapulpa, OK
Tuesday, 06 August 2109 was a hot, humid and sunny Oklahoma day. The PGR staged and briefed at Smith Funeral Home to flags that had been posted across the front of the chapel and down the side of the parking lot. Following the briefing a Moment of Silence was given for the Blue, Gold and Silver Star mothers and families, followed by a prayer. The PGR manned the doors and a Flag Line was formed welcoming family and friends. When the service began all of the flags were retrieved and prepared for the next mission. At the conclusion of the service the PGR entered the chapel, the family was thanked for allowing the PGR to honor this hero. Taps were played, the flag was folded and presented to Mr. Scott’s son. The PGR plaque and Invocation Letter were read and presented to the son and to his daughter. A Final Salute was given and participated in by all in attendance. The PGR exited the chapel and were dismissed.
Thank you, to the Don Scott family for inviting the PGR to be a part of this service honoring this Hero. Thank you to the PGR riders who took time out of their day to “Stand and Honor” this Hero.
“Rest in Peace” SGT Donald Vernon Scott, US Army Vietnam Veteran, your mission is complete, you are gone, but your service to this Great Nation will never be forgotten.
Respectfully submitted:
Mike “Penni” Pennington
