Fellow Riders,
It is with heavy heart that I must inform you that Alabama and America has lost another true American hero. The family of USN-1 Donald Ray Chambless has requested the Patriot Guard to stand in honor of their loved one. Mr. Chambless passed away at the age of 82. Mr. Chambless served on the South Alabama Veterans Council as Vice President for a number years and as Secretary. He also was an active member of VFW Post 49.
USN-1 Chambless served in Korea aboard the USS McKean (DD-784), a 390’ destroyer. He was awarded the NDSM, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, and an Honorable Discharge. It is our honor to stand for this true American Hero.
This is a Flag line only service at the Committal Shelter at 1:30 p.m.
