ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family and friends of U.S. Navy Builder First Class Petty Officer (BU1) Donald E. Connelly, Jr. have requested the Patriot Guard Riders’ presence to stand a flag line during his service as the family pays their final respects to their hero.
BU1 Connelly served his country for 20 years, enlisting in the US Navy in 1977 and retiring in 1997. His awards include: Navy And Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy And Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Battle ‘E’ Award, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy And Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, M-16 Rifle Expert Medal, .45 Cal Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon, and Good Conduct Award (5).
After serving 20 years in Seabees, he loved traveling to NASCAR and the National parks in their RV. He enjoyed helping friends and family with construction projects and sitting on his back porch watching his grandkids playing.
