Narrative:
Don was born on July 23, 1925 in Pittsfield, MA. A proud veteran of the US Navy, Don was a survivor of the D-Day invasion. He served on the USS Barnett APA-5 and the USS Toucan AM-387. While in the service from 1942-1946 he earned the WWII Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars, The American Campaign Medal, The Occupation Service Medal, The Combat Action Ribbon and The Normandy Jubilee of Liberty Medal, and attained the rank of Motor Machinst’s Mate 2nd Class..
Don worked for the United States Post Office as a mechanic until his retirement in 1982. For more than 25 years, Don was also a volunteer at the Albany VA.
Another member of the Greatest Generation has passed. The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to be able to stand with dignity, Honor and respect for the life and service of Donald Latimer.
