DESCRIPTION:SFC Delbert Lefmann and YN1 Mary Lefmann\, Veterans \nUSA\, USCG\, USCGR\, SPAR – WWII\, Korea \nMULTI-CITY\, Virginia – 28 Mar 2017\n\n[HR][/HR]\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nMISSION ORDER:\nThe Patriot Guard has been invited by the family of SFC Delbert and YN 1 Mary Lefmann to stand in honor of their service to our Country. \nSFC DELBERT LEFMANN (89)\nYN 1 MARY LEFMANN (93) \nBoth were World War II and Korean war veterans. \nDelbert was a SFC in the Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star\, Silver Star\, Korean Service Medal\, and WW II Victory Medal. According to his daughter “SGT Lefmann was assigned to the HQ 555 Battery (“Triple Nickle”)\, his CO was going to give him a field promotion if he was to stay\, he declined and within a week the whole battalion was destroyed.” \nMary was a YN 1 (Y 1 c) in the Coast Guard and an active S.P.A.R. (US Coast Guard Reserve) who were part of an integral part of support for the war effort. As a yeoman she was responsible for a variety of administrative and supervisory duties. \nThis will be a two (2) part mission:\nPART I – Escort from Gloucester to AGH\nPART II – Flag line at AGH\n\nThis will be a full escort from Gloucester to AGH. (Approximately 50 miles and 1 hr. 20 min.)  Route:     http://mapq.st/2lqyRs0  —  Only change would be; turn right at Ft. Eustis Blvd vice Denbigh Blvd. then turn left on Warwick Blvd vice Jefferson. \n\nWe will stage in the parking lot adjacent to Tractor Supply Store\, the family will meet us there. Upon arrival we will form a single line and provide a hand salute as the family drives up. Both veterans have been cremated and will be with the family during the escort. We will escort the family (approximately 5 cars) to Albert G. Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery\, for a one (1) hour service. Upon arrival at AGH we will form a flag line. Please ensure all flags are rigged for highway speeds. Rigs will be checked prior to the escort. Checking flags does not constitute approval of your mount. Each rider is responsible for their flag mount. \nWeather:\nPlease monitor the weather and dress appropriately. \nSpecial Note:\nSafety is our utmost priority. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR Mission Statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle\, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation. While the PGR and its riders have a remarkable riding record in the execution of our missions\, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents. In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents\, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or Honor Mission are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing. It will include a safety briefing and any unique ride information known to our Ride Captain(s) that may be specific to the mission. Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern. Our Ride Captains are asked to stand down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk. This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and other conditions. It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations. If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill\, comfort\, or needs\, you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation. \nYou do not have to own/ride a motorcycle or be a Veteran to join and membership is Free.
