Darle served in the US Air Force from 22 January 1971 to 31 January 1991 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist\, Jet Aircraft One and Two Engines. 14 years and 9 months of his Service time was on F-16’s. He was Honorably Retired at the rank of Master Sergeant (E7). His last duty assignment was at Headquarters Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base\, California. He earned the Meritorious Service Medal\, the Air Force Commendation Medal w/3 device\, an Air Force Achievement Medal\, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/3 device\, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/ 5 device\, the National Defense Service Medal w/1 bronze service star\, a Vietnam Service Medal\, an Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon\, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/ 4 device\, the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon w/1 device\, a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon\, the Air Force Training Ribbon\, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
