ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Curtis “Curt” O’Neal Barksdale has requested the PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS help honor and pay tribute to him for his service to our country. Curt honorably and proudly served his country in Company B; 1st Battalion; 2nd Infantry; 1st Infantry Division; 5th US Army in Fort Riley, Kansas with combat service in Vietnam.

His many Awards and Medals include the NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL; FIRST CLASS (Grenade) BADGE; VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL; COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE; ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL; AIR MEDAL w/Oak Leaf Cluster; SHARPSHOOTER BADGE (M-14 Rifle) and EXPERT BADGE (M-16 Rifle and M-60 Machine Gun).

In honor of Curt’s dedicated service, US Flags will be mounted at E.E. PICKLE FUNERAL HOME; 500 3rd Ave. S.; Amory, MS 38821 for visitation on Saturday 28 Januray 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

PRIMARY STAGING FOR CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: Sunday 29 January 2017 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, after the Mission briefing, the PGR will provide a silent US Flag line until the beginning of the celebration of life service at 2:00 PM.

ESCORT: Immediately following the service, the PGR will escort Curt to RIGGAN CEMETERY located near Greenwood Springs, MS 38848 and provide a silent US Flag line for the graveside service.

NOTES: The escort distance is approximately 20 miles, large motorcycle mounted US Flags are encouraged.
