DESCRIPTION:updated 10 SEP 14 @ 1430 by indyharley \n\n \nCPL Jason Harwood\, Topeka Police Department\, End of Watch: 07 SEP 14\n\n\nThe Family and Fraternal Order of Police have asked for our assistance with the funeral for Jason.  \nWhile  making a traffic stop\, he was shot and killed in the line of duty  Sunday evening near S.E. 6th and Deer Creek Trafficway in East Topeka.\n\nCPL Harwood\, 40\,  joined the Topeka Police Department on June 28\, 1999\, where he served  as a member of the hit-and-run unit and the K-9 unit before being  promoted to corporal in May 2012.\n\nHe is survived by his wife and two sons. \nThis  has been the 3rd Topeka Police Department Officer killed in the line of  duty in 21 months. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to  Jason’s family\, friends\, and the Law Enforcement community. \nSTAGE: 0730-0830\nParking Lot of the former Dillon’s Grocery Store\, NE Corner of 29th and South Topeka Blvd \n0830 – Riders Meeting/Mission Briefing \n0855 – KSU to the Kansas Expo Center\, Landon Arena\nWe will be parking on the east side of Topeka Blvd between 18th and  21st upon our arrival. This section of road will be closed for the  funeral \n0900-0930 – Set up flags around the arena \n0945 – Flag line manned for family arrival \n1100 – Funeral starts \n1300 – Flag line on 21st St. going west as far as possible for procession \nThis          will be a joint mission with  American Legion Post 421.   They          will have the lead on this mission. Troy Weaver from 421  will be the Ride Captain and I will assist him. \n\n\nRest  in honored peace Jason.  Your sacrifice for our community will not be  forgotten.
