ABOUT THE MISSION:

We are privileged to honor SGT Charles W. “Billy” Yancey. He was born Aug 14, 1942 and died April 29th, 2020. Billy joined the Army 7 Dec 1962 and served as a Wireman for 2 years and 8 months, including time in Vietnam. He then transferred to the Reserves on 2 Dec 1965 and changed careers to Light Vehicle Maintenance. SGT Yancey was medically retired on 11 Aug 95. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal (2), Army Reserve Components Achievement, 2 Overseas Bars and Expert Badge (Rifle). He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 10442 Auxiliary in Rose City. He loved wood working and putting puzzles together that he related to his life experiences or his enjoyment of it, and he made all the frames himself. Billy is survived by two sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.
