Honor Mission
Charles Vernon Durham, Retired

America has lost another true American hero. The family of Colonel Charles Vernon Durham have asked the Patriot Guard to stand a flag line and ride in honor of their loved one. Col Durham served with honor from June 25 1963 until July 31 1991. His medals and ribbons include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Vietnam Service Medal with Service Star, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with six oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Service Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, Foreign Decoration, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Device and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following Col Durhams military service he retired as a full time Professor at Troy University Montgomery in 2011. Col. Durham was active in churches throughout his military career and was active in his home church, Heritage Baptist in Montgomery Al. Colonel Durham has served us with honor throughout his military and civilian careers. It is now time for us to stand in his honor.
