Charles Shayne (“Chaz”) recently passed away at the age of 69 due to complications from exposure to Agent Orange. Chaz enlisted in the US Marine Corps in July 1967, and honorably served until June 1971, during which time he served in Vietnam. Among other awards, Chaz received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame, Navy Unit Citation, and a Purple Heart. After his discharge, Chaz continued to serve veterans in his community – he was a past member (and Road Captain) of American Legion Riders Post 79 in Yarnell, formerly Post Adjutant for Post 79, and at the time of his death was a member of American Legion Post 12 and American Legion Riders Chapters 12 in Wickenburg, where Chaz had served as Commander of the Post 12 and was also past President and Secretary of ALR 12.
