Mission Report: CHARLES EARL PEEPLES
On a sunny day 23 patriots gathered to pay respect and honor to Mr. Peeples, a Veteran, Law Enforcement Officer, and family man. There were 20 PGR and 3 Blue Knights; of the 20 there were 3 new PGR members who were presented with “Mission Accomplished” pins. Following the briefing we stood a flag line at the entrance to the church. The flag line was held until the start of the service. Our flags were returned to the flag wagon for preparation of the escort. 10 PGR members volunteered to go ahead to the cemetery under the guidance of RCIT Bob Wagner to establish a flag line for the arrival of the funeral procession. At the completion of the funeral service PRG led the LEO escorted 13 mile procession to the cemetery. Members of Mr. Peeples’ riding club, Eagle Riders, joined in the escort. There were two bikes with large flags in front of the procession with two bikes with flags in front of the hearse. The escort rode through Hampton where they passed under the large American flag suspended from two fire department ladder trucks. Many of the towns’ people were standing on the sides of the road to pay their respects as the procession passed. Once at the cemetery we dismounted and gathered the already assembled flags and joined in the flag line as guests and family approached the graveside. Honors were presented by the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard where they saluted Sgt. Peeples with a 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps. The flag was folded and presented to the family. The Hampton Sheriff’s office also presented a flag and other tokens of appreciation to the family. The “End of Watch Call” echoed from one of the police cruisers.
Thank you to all who participated.
Thank you to David Miller for providing flags and water as well as Tom Skillestad with back up water.
There was one incident without injury. A bike went down when parking due to soft sand. Bob Wagner, RCIT did a superb job providing the veteran portion of the briefing as well as the escort and formation at the cemetery ahead of the escort.
