Charles Dickerson Whitsitt Comment

  1. Mission Complete: 05 June 2020 – SP5 USA Charles Dickerson “Dick” Whitsitt, Vietnam Veteran, Norman, OK

On Friday 05 June 2020, there were 15 Patriot Guard Riders on 13 bikes and 2 cages who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of SP5 USA Charles Dickerson “Dick” Whitsitt, Vietnam Veteran.

The briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver, & Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. A prayer asking comfort for the grieving family, a safe mission and protection for our military personnel engaged in the Global War on Terror was also said.

The riders staged at INTRUST Bank, 501 36th Avenue NW, Norman, OK and waited for the police escort and coach to arrive so riders could accompany Mr. Whitsitt, family and friends to IOOF Cemetery, in Norman.

Once at the cemetery we formed a Flag/Respect Line as our hero was moved from coach to bier. The graveside service was led by Rev. Ingram, followed by the Military Honors Team playing Taps and folding of the Flag. The Flag was presented to the wife of Mr. Whitsitt.

With the help of 1 PGR member the RCIC thanked the family for allowing us to be there and presented his wife with a plaque. A framed invocation was read and presented the son of Mr Whitsitt. This concluded our mission.

Thank you to my fellow PGR riders for attending this mission. Your presence made a difference to this family. The family so appreciated our presence and asked me to relay their appreciation for what we do, so again, thank you.
Most of all, thank you SP5 Charles Dickerson Whitsitt for your service to this great nation. Stand down Sir, your watch is over, and you will not be forgotten.
