DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nCharles Dan Urbanczyk\, Veteran\nUSMC – Vietnam\nHolly\, Michigan – 08-22-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Family of Charles Dan Urbanczyk\, 73\, (or Charlie as he was known) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in honor of his service to our Country. Charlie was born 22 May 1946\, and died at the Saginaw VA Hospital on 8 Aug while in Hospice Care\, after fighting a 10 year battle of health issues related to his Agent Orange exposure while serving in Vietnam. Charlie entered the Marine Corps in March of 1966\, and after training\, was sent to Vietnam as a Rifleman. He was granted a Hardship Discharge after 7 months in Vietnam due to a family emergency at home. Charlie was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal\, the Vietnam Service Medal\, the Vietnam Campaign Medal\, and a Marksman Rifle Badge. Charlie joined the Detroit Police Department in 1971\, and served honorably for 28 years\, retiring in 1999. He was the recipient of a number of Awards and Commendations from the Detroit Police Department as well. After Police retirement\, Charlie and his wife relocated to the Gladwin area\, where he loved to fish and did woodworking. He was also an avid reader.
