Charles “Chuck” Bondi, Veteran
Liberty Lake, Washington – 06-08-20
ABOUT THE MISSION:
Washington PGR is the providing the last leg of a Pony Express to escort Charles “Chuck” Bondi home to his children in the Seattle area. This ride started in Florida (where Mr. Bondi was living when he passed) and will make the 3000+ mile trip to Washington. Due to the Governor’s directives in regards to Covid-19 we are only able to provide a small escort to bring Chuck home to his children and grandchildren. Once the restrictions are lifted we hope to help the family honor their father/grandfather. The escort has already been chosen, but here is a little information about Mr. Bondi. Charles (Chuck) Bondi was a USAF Veteran; he dropped out of high school to join the AF when he was 17 in 1953. It is known that he was stationed at Travis AFB where his oldest child was born in 1956, there are four children in all, with Kelly (our contact) being the youngest. Chuck also served temporary duty in Guam for 6 months. While in the AF Chuck was a plane mechanic and it was something he truly enjoyed. After leaving the military in 1958, with a young family, he earned a degree in Associate in Science-Mechanical Technology. After retirement & relocating to Florida he started refurbishing carousel horses from bare wood and was also his church’s caretaker. Kelly really wanted us to know that her dad was a very loving man, he loved people, the military and our Nation; But most of all, he loved his family.
