Charles C. Blaylock, Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:

SN Charles C. “Charlie” Blaylock, 72, passed away January 26, 2021. He was born on Christmas Eve, 1948 in Mojave, California. He played several sports in high school, graduating in 1968. He joined the Navy and spent his training days in Kodiak, Alaska. From there he was assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk, then joined his brother aboard the USS Juneau. He was in for 4 yrs, 2 months, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. From there he worked for Stanage Electric and Alliance Rubber, then found his dream job with the National Park Service, retiring after more than 25 years. Charlie loved hiking, camping, jeeping and spelunking. After retirement he toured the country on his Harley. Travels included numerous state and national parks, Sturgis, Dragon’s Tail and the 2019 Rolling Thunder ride to DC, which was a big honor for him. He is survived by his brother, 2 sisters, 4 nephews, 2 nieces and many other family members around the country.
