Carlos Figueroa Home Dedication, Retired
USA – WoT
Grand Prairie, Texas – 02-12-21
ABOUT THE MISSION:
Tunnel to Towers Foundation has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to help them honor an American Hero and his family by leading the procession and standing a flag line for this awesome event. On Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10:00 am, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation will hold its first home dedication of the year when it welcomes home Army Sergeant Carlos Figueroa (he also served four years in the USMC) and family to a mortgage-free Smart Home. (see attached flyer for details.) Sergeant Carlos Figueroa was serving as an Army combat engineer when he suffered critical injuries after his vehicle triggered an IED during a mission near Tikrit, Iraq. SGT Figueroa suffered extensive injuries to his left leg, and a traumatic brain injury. After more than 30 surgeries and a decade of debilitating pain, Figueroa made the decision to have his left leg amputated. Carlos is not the only one in the family who deals with physical challenges. His oldest daughter Lilly (13) was born with a rare joint disorder. Lilly had her legs amputated above the knees enabling her to move around more freely. She is now walking, running and skiing on prosthetic limbs. Things got more difficult for Carlos, his wife Jessica, and Lilly when the wildfires that raged in Sonoma, California in 2017 destroyed the home the family was renting. Tunnel to Towers Foundation will present SGT Figueroa, Jessica, Lilly, and Braelynn (15 months) with a mortgage-free Smart Home in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Procession & Flag Line Staging Time: 0900
Starting Time: 0930
Riders will stage in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station in front of Sgt Figueroa’s current residence to be briefed about the mission and lined up to escort the family to their new home (4 miles away).
Weather is forecast to be very cold so T2T Foundation understands we may not have any motorcycle riders with us in the parade/procession, all vehicles are welcome. T2T is attempting to have Cedar Hill Fire and Police participating also.
After the briefing, anyone wishing to do so may go on to the new home to stand our flag line that will be established there.
Riders may stand for the ceremony of presenting the family the keys to their new home. We will also present a certificate of appreciation.
Sgt Figueroa and his family know the floor plan of their new home and have seen the outside. They were involved in some things like picking cabinets etc., however, have not been “allowed to get any closer than the driveway”. This will be a wonderful surprise!
Riders will be directed when to pull the flags and return them to the support vehicle, and then be debriefed and dismissed.
Flags & Water:
Flags will be provided
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will be provided.
