AFTER ACTION REPORT: SP5Carl James Jr, US Army Vietnam Veteran, Sapulpa, OK
Friday, 19 July 2019 was a hot, humid and sunny Oklahoma day. The PGR staged at Green Hill Funeral Chapel to flags that had been posted down both sides of the parking lot. A briefing was held covering all aspects of this mission. A Moment of Silence was held remembering Blue, Gold and Silver Star mothers and families. A prayer was offered for this family asking strength and understanding, safety for first responders, our troops serving around the world and safety for PGR riders. A Flag Line was formed across the front of the funeral home and the door was manned welcoming family and friends. When the service started all flags were retrieved and prepared for the next mission. At the end of the service the US Army Honor Guard and the PGR entered the chapel. The VFW Honor Guard fired a three round volley and then entered the chapel. The Army folded and presented the flag to Mrs. James, the VFW made a presentation to Mrs. James of fired cartridges and the PGR stepped forward, thanked the family, read and presented the plaque and Invocation Letter to Mrs. James. A Final Salute was given that was participated in by all in attendance. All in the chapel were then dismissed. On family request for a private interment the PGR was dismissed.
Thank you, to the James family for inviting the PGR to be a part of this service to Honor this Hero. Thank you to the PGR riders that took time out of their day to “Stand and Honor this hero. For many of the riders in attendance this was the first of several missions that they were going to participate in today.
“Rest in Peace” Carl “Buddy” James, US Army Veteran, your mission is complete, you are gone, but your service to this Great Nation will never be forgotten.
Respectfully submitted:
Mike “Penni” Pennington
Tom “Jester” Pope
