Bruce Martin, Veteran
Peoria, Arizona – 04-25-21
ABOUT THE MISSION:
Bruce Martin was a United States Air Force veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force beginning in 1951. He trained as a parts technician in Texas. His first duty assignment was to the 626th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Fire Island Air Force Station in Alaska. His duties were to maintain 10 radar detachments forming the Distant Early Warning Line known as the DEW line. These stations were always to be maintained as in commission around the clock. Airman first class Martin always remembered the 80 degree below zero temperatures and 100 mile per hour winds and being trapped in Quonset huts for 3 days at a time. Bruce Martin was released from active duty and honorably discharged. It is our honor to stand in silent reverence as we show respect and gratitude to this hero for his sacrifices made for this nation.
