Mission Complete: 27 May 2019, Memorial Day Veterans Recognition, Blanchard, Ok.
On Monday, May 27, 2019, there were 15 Patriot Guard Riders on 11 bikes and 3 cages who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of all military veterans who have ever served this great nation.
It was a windy but pleasant morning, and everyone was in good spirits as they arrived. The riders met at the Liberty National Bank in Blanchard, Ok.
The briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver & Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. A prayer asking for the safety of the riders and the other participants in the ceremony, as well as for safe travels home was offered.
After the briefing, there were 2 trikes and 3 cages that stayed behind to pass out flags to the runners while the rest of the riders rode to the cemetery to wait for the runners and stake the entrance road.
As the runners of the 5K Log Carry Run, led by the Blanchard Police Dept. and the 2 PGR Trikes, arrived at the cemetery, the riders took the flags from each runner and placed it on a stake.
After the ceremony, which was finalized with the firing of a 3 Round Volley, the riders took the flags back to the flag vehicle and everyone was dismissed.
Thanks to the Blanchard American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars for inviting us to participate in this event honoring American Heroes, and to all the riders who attended today’s mission. Special Thanks to the Blanchard Police Dept. for escorting the runners safely from start to finish.
Respectfully,
RC: Bruce “Sixgun” McCormick
