SP4 Billy Gene Byrd
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that America has lost another True American HERO. The family of US Army Specialist 4 Billy Gene Byrd has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand for their loved one. SP4 Byrd passed away this week at the age of 65. SP4 Byrd was a Vietnam veteran where he served as an artilleryman. During his service, SP4 Byrd was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and many more awards and decorations.
Specialist Byrd was a strong supporter of the military and veterans causes. While not a member, he was also a big supporter of the Patriot Guard Riders, following the activities of the organization and its support for our HEROES and their families since the PGR was formed in 2005. SP4 Byrd and his entire family believe in what we do. The Patriot Guard Riders will be honored to stand a silent flag line for this True Patriot and HERO as well as escort him to his final resting place.
Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, AL from 1000 – 1200. There will be a short escort from the chapel to the Memorial Wall at Serenity Gardens for graveside services and military honors. American Legion Post 250 will provide the Honor Guard for military honors.
