ABOUT THE MISSION:
We will stand a flag line and provide an escort to honor the life and service of Billy Coday Draper, 97, USA, T-5, WWII 1942 – 1945. Hero Draper answered the call to serve his country in the US Army during WW II, on Nov 28, 1942 and was was assigned to 94th Infantry Division as a Heavy Machine Gunner 605 and saw action in the European Theater of Operation. He rose to the rank of Technician 5th Grade and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, four Bronze Stars, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African Mideastern Campaign Ribbon, two Overseas Service Bars, and Victory Ribbon. He served in the Rhineland Central Europe and the Ardennes Northern France arenas for a year and a half in addition to a year and eight months stateside prior. He was honorably discharged on December 30, 1945, as the Army demobilized after the war. He was born July 5, 1922 near Hartville, MO, and died November 27, 2019 in Springfield.
