DESCRIPTION:Bill Henry “Willie” Toledo\nUS Marine Corps WWII Veteran\nNavajo Code Talker\nAlbuquerque\, NM\n05-11-2016\n\n\n\nPatriot Guard Riders of New Mexico have been invited by the family to honor another great American hero. \nBill was born and raised in Torreon\, NM\, where he joined the Marines with two cousins and two friends and served a vital role as a Navajo Code Talker during World War II. He was assigned a body guard when he was mistaken for an enemy soldier and he was present for the famous flag raising on Iwo Jima. When he returned home he finished High School and then attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence\, KS. \nWillie married his High School sweetheart\, Louise after the war and lived in Kansas where Louise was a nurse while he worked as an auto mechanic. They moved back to New Mexico where they lived the remainder of their lives.
