The Family of U.S Army SGT Betty Lou Pielin (71) has requested that the Patriot Guard Riders escort her cremains from Beach Chapel at Hardage-Giddens, Jacksonville Beach, to Jacksonville National Cemetery for final honors and interment. SGT Pielin served her country honorably for 16 years. She spent 15 years of active duty and 1 year in the Army National Guard as an Administrative and Medical Specialist. Her awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Army Reservist Component Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct/5 awards, Army Service Ribbon, and Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon. Following her military service, she worked for Medler-Toledo Rainin for 28 years. She was a life member of AmVets, serving as Commander (5 years), 1st Vice and Adjutant as well as holding several State positions. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 2000 and American Legion Riders, past Adjutant Post 228, and former member of the Marine Corp League as Chaplain.
