The family of Bertram Gardes has requested the Patriot Guard to pay Honors to this American Hero. It will be our honor to do so.

Bertram was born in 1925 and was part of that generation that was born and raised to work hard all their lives. He worked hard and played hard at everything.

Bertram served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USS General Hugh L. Scott (AP-136) a Squire class transport ship for the US Navy in WWII. The ship was crewed by the Coast Guard until she was decommissioned. She was named in honor of US Army General Hugh Lenox Scott.

Bertram was a Watertender Second Class.

Upon completion of his enlistment Bertram went to work for Jorgansen Steel as a heat treater. He retired from there in 1981.

Bertram loved to read and travel. He loved going out to eat and watching the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Dodgers.

Bertram leaves behind his daughter, 3 Grandsons, and 4 Great Grandsons.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
