ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Bert Owen Scott, Jr., has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to honor his memory and service by standing a flag line at his funeral service, ride with him one last time and stand again at his internment.  Bert Owen Scott honorably served in the United Army from August 1968 to October 1971.  Mr. Scott then went on to serve his community as a firefighter for DeSoto Fire Department. After the mission brief, the riders will establish the flag line and await the arrival of Mr. Scott’s family and friends. When directed, the riders will return the flags to the support vehicle, receive the safety brief and prepare to accompany the procession to the DFW National Cemetery. Riders not participating in the procession will proceed to the cemetery and assist with setting up the flags.

After the mission briefing, four honor bikes (if not already provided by procession from DeSoto) will be identified and moved to the staging lane to accompany the procession. The remainder of the riders will proceed to the designated Committal Shelter, establish the flag line and prepare to receive the family and friends of Mr. Scott. When directed, the riders will return the flags to storage, be debriefed and dismissed.
