Gaumer\, Veteran \nUSAAC \nGreenville\, Illinois – 07 Mar 2017\n\n[HR][/HR]\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe family of another member of the Greatest Generation has requested that the Patriot Guard stand in honor of their loved one as he once stood tall for us. Basil Gaumer entered the US Army Air Corps in Oct of 1942\, answering the call to duty from his country. Basil attained the rank of Corporal (E-4) before being honorably discharged in Oct of 1945. His duty stations included Normandy\, Northern France and the Ardennes\, the Rhineland and Central Europe\, and he took part in the Air Offensive in Europe. Basil was a current member of the 8th Air Force group and a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1377 in Greenville. \nBasil was married to his wife for 72 years\, and she survives. He took part in an Honor Flight on 9 Jul 2009.
