Arthur Heaphy, Retired

The family of Colonel Arthur Heaphy, United States Air Force retired has request the Patriot Guard Riders presence as as they show their final respects and lay their loved one to rest. , Colonel Heaphy was commissioned a Lieutenant in the USAF where he spent the next 26 ½ yrs. His military career included tours of duty in Vietnam, Germany and Korea. His decorations include The Legion of Merit, The Distinguished Flying Cross, several Air Medals and several Meritorious Service Medals, among numerous others. In January of 1963 Colonel Heaphy became a navigator, flying the venerable C-130 Hercules. Selected for an emerging mission, he became one of the first crews to fly the MC-130 Combat Talon I, Special Operations variant. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and numerous Air Medals flying clandestine missions over Southeast Asia and around the globe. While assigned to the 7th Special Operations Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, West Germany, he married the LOVE of his life, Patricia, of Plantsville, Connecticut. This will be a flagline at Church followed by a escort to Sarasota National Cemetery and service at Sarasota National cemetery. Please bring your 3 X 5 American flags and stand in honor and respect for our fellow veteran and his family.

  7. Aviators say that you have flown West, when embarking on your final flight. As an instructor Nav on C-130’s your course is steady & true. I see in my mind’s eye, your C-130 silhouette, climbing & disappearing in the clouds. Saluting you as you departed, is your friends & military family. Among them are Sqdn Commanders, C-130 pilots, Navigators & Loadmasters, crew chiefs, techs. All seasoned Veterans.
    As my brother in-law and my combat Veteran brother, I’ve always enjoyed a special relationship.
    I’m going to miss your famous lobster fests, going fishing with you and just sitting down & breaking bread with you & my sister. Patricia really was the love of your life, and you showed her in your actions daily. You’re the best!
    This sadness of you leaving has left a hole in my heart. I will heal the best I can and complete the mission of life.
    All of us AF crew veterans have our own C-130 Hercules to embark in someday. We will all be reunited together again at our Father’s table. God speed my brother & blessings on you. I miss you dearly.
