AFTER ACTION REPORT – 07 June 2019, SSGT Anton Ellis Tuomi, USA Vietnam Veteran, Tahlequah/Fort Gibson, OK
On a questionable weather day, we had ten Patriots on nine bikes and a cage gather at Hart Funeral Home to honor SSGT Anton Ellis Tuomi, USA Vietnam Veteran. SSGT Tuomi earned numerous accommodations during his career to include Vietnam Combat Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and many others. Upon return from his overseas service, he became a Drill Instructor. We were joined by The Priesthood Motorcycle Club with their Moto-Coach for the procession to Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Our hero’s grandson also joined us on his bike. Thank you to Tahlequah Police Department who did a masterful job escorting the procession through dense lunchtime traffic in light drizzle.
Upon arrival at Fort Gibson Committal Shelter, a respect line was formed as our hero was transferred from the coach. A very moving eulogy of our hero was given by his friend/pastor detailing SSGT Tuomi’s deep love for his military service and patriotism for his country. The PGR then made its presentation of our Plaque and Invocation to his family. Following a song, the USA Honor Guard came forward to present honors and conclude the service.
Thank you to all that rode today to honor our hero. Your presence in these conditions was appreciated by the family. Thank you to both Tahlequah and Fort Gibson Police Departments for their generous support and getting us through their respective jurisdictions safely. We also thank the family of SSGT Tuomi for inviting us to participate in this celebration of a true American Patriot. Mostly, thank you SSGT Anton Ellis Tuomi, USA Vietnam Veteran, for your gallant service to our country. May you rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Dan “Big D” Koehling
