Anthony J. Simas, Veteran

USA – WWII

Roslyn Heights, New York – 11 Feb 2017

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been asked to stand for US Army Corpsman Anthony Simas, age 92, by his son, a Red Knight Rider, who has joined the Patriot Guard Riders on several missions.

Very little is known about this hero’s military record, as all of his documentation was lost in the St. Louis records fire of 1973.

Like most World War II Veterans, Mr. Simas was never forthcoming with his war stories, other than the one where he outran the strafing from a German warplane on Normandy Beach on D Day +2.

Mr. Simas had outlived much of his family – a small turnout is expected. Let’s brave the elements and stand for him as he had stood for us in the face of far greater danger than a little winter weather.

While the snow should stop by Thursday evening, 9 Feb, it is not expected to warm significantly in time for this mission of Saturday, 11 Feb, so there will likely be lots of snow and ice on and near the roads. Please keep this in mind when deciding on your transportation and attire.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to stand in respect and honor for the service and life of Anthony Simas.
