Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders. Evelyn, the Widow of Army Veteran Anthony “Tony” Benson Commander has asked for the PGR to stand a Memorial Flag Line for her husband. Tony was inducted in October 1969. Transferred to Army Reserves in late 1971 and final discharge October 1975. In 1970-71 he served in Vietnam as a Helicopter Door Gunner/Crew Chief with the 176th Assault Helicopter Company. Assigned to the Americal Division in Chu Lai. Participated in Operation Lam Son 719 flying South Vietnamese soldiers into Laos in the spring of 1971. He received the Army Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement among a long list. Tony enjoyed attending reunions of the VHPA. (Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Assoc. and the Americal Division. He attended the 2015 VHPA Reunion at the Arlington dedication in Washington D.C. This year he attended the Reunion in Reno. A disabled Vet, Lifetime Member of VFW Post 10252 Anchorage Alaska and a member of the American Legion Post 19 The Dalles, Oregon. This will be a one location Memorial only.
